the efforts to improve the quality of human resources is through improving the quality of education. The quality of education will be good if the teaching process can be understood by students not only mastering the knowledge material but also being able to use their knowledge in real life that has relevance to the knowledge they have. Based on the objectives above , the approach used in this study is a qualitative descriptive approach. Data analysis is carried out covering three elements, namely data reduction, data presentation and conclusions or data verification. To ensure the validity of the data is done by using four techniques, they are the extension of the presence of researchers, perseverance of observation, triangulation (sources, methods, techniques), and peer examination. Based on the results of the study it can be seen that; first, the learning activities of students at Batang Hari Vocational High School are an increase in student learning activities from the ability to answer questions, the courage to ask questions, the ability to express opinions, skills in giving advice, the ability to express conclusions have increased in each cycle. Second, the way to implement the contextual teaching and learning approach in the learning at the Batang Hari Vocational High School 1 has been well implemented by the teacher by including the REACT indicator in the learning process carried out in each cycle. Third, the use of contextual teaching and learning approaches that can improve student learning activities in 1 Batang Hari Vocational School students learn from learning activities that actively acquire new knowledge through the process of experiencing, finding, and analyzing material. Then use his abilities in other situations.
